What's the challenge?
To spend an entire day by myself at a conference and speak to people.
What are you afraid of?
Loneliness.
How was the experience?
This week, I am at the HOW Conference in Chicago (branding and design event). The first day, I was overwhelmed with the amount of people attending the conference โ around 4,000 people โ the size of the place and the different activities going on. I was terrified of losing sight of my group and being alone for more than 2 minutes. This horrible feeling only led me to one challenge: spend the second day at the conference by myself. At first, I was scared and had a hard time going on a separate way. Then, I sat by myself at the first conference and started talking to a complete stranger who ended up being very sweet and active at the event. After that, it became easier to enjoy some "me" time and get to know new people, I interacted with some of the panelists and took some cool selfies for my next fear. I initiated every conversation either by offering some of my cookies or asking a question. These two seemed to work pretty well! By the end of the conference, I felt way more confident; I wasn't alone, I was with myself.
