This is what happened. A couple months ago Youtube selected me as one of their 10 female creators in New York to be part of the YouTube Spaces Women's Program
to encourage other women to start their own channel. Youtube provided the crew, equipment and space, but gave me green light to figure out what to shoot to inspire women to create. This was my first real, serious production with crew, fancy equipment and a studio that looked like a Gatsby bar! How awesome?
So I did what I do best, ask for help! First I called my brother, Daniel, who is the film savvy and one of the most talented directors I know. He put me in contact with Tara O'Sullivan to be my producer. What is a producer? I asked myself.
Ok so I met Tara and she said she would take care of everything: script, schedule, props, crew, casting, etc! Wait, what? I had no idea producers could make my life so easy! I definitely need to get myself a full-time producer! She took my few ideas and put together an amazing script involving my other female creator friends, Joanna, Stephanie and Daria... I love you Tara!
The day of the shoot arrived and I had no idea how this thing was going to work out. Fear was eating me alive. In my mind the crew was not going to know what to do, the other creators were not going to show up and I was going to pass out. Good news, none of that happened. Everyone showed up, my brother beautifully directed the crew and we finished right on time!
And that's how I overcame my fear of doing a full production and collaborating with Youtube and other creators for an amazing cause!
